The MagicJack

The MagicJack - Is A Winner! Several months ago a co-worker started telling everybody about this new device that he heard about called the MagicJack. Perhaps, by now you’ve heard about it too. Well, I’m somewhat of a skeptic (which I think is a good thing these days, generally speaking) and it took a few days of my buddy ranting and raving about this thing for me to start listening. But, I finally decided just to check it out and see what he was all excited about. Well, let me tell you folks, I read, I liked, and I decided to buy. Just so you know, I was a staunch Vonage customer. However, the sound quality of the MagicJack was pretty impressive. Add to that the $50 first year price tag and with a measly $20 bucks a YEAR thereafter and bingo!, I was sold. The MagicJack offers unlimited local and long distance calling. If you have friends and/or family who also have the MagicJack, even international calls are included for the same low cost per year. To use the MagicJack, your PC must have hi-speed internet access. It even works well with wireless! The only drawback that I see at this time, is the inability to port your existing phone number over to the MagicJack. However, I hear that that feature is on its way soon, end of 2008 or early 2009.
